The Dilwado Review: Is it worth it in India?

Red Dead Redemption 2 is Arthur Morgan's story, and it is arguably the best narrative experience in the history of video games. If you are an Indian gamer who loves the open-world chaos of GTA V, be warned: RDR2 is a much slower, more deliberate, and emotionally devastating game.

The gameplay focuses heavily on realism. You have to feed your character, brush your horse, and clean your guns. At first, this feels tedious, but it grounds you in the world. The gunplay is heavy and punchy, and the random encounters in the massive open world are completely unscripted and unique.

The open world itself is the best feature. From the snowy peaks of Ambarino to the muddy streets of Valentine and the industrial smog of Saint Denis, no other game feels this alive. NPCs have daily routines, wildlife hunt each other, and your actions permanently impact how the world reacts to you.

The biggest negative is the extremely slow start. The first 3-4 hours in the snow are essentially a massive tutorial that many players give up on. The mission design is also very outdated—if you deviate slightly from Rockstar's exact path, you fail the mission immediately.

Should you buy it? Yes. Do NOT buy it for ₹3,199 though. This game goes on sale for ₹1,055 almost every single month. At that price, getting a 60+ hour masterclass in storytelling is the best deal on Steam India.
